Opening an inground or above ground swimming pool can be quite an expensive experience, so I will show you how to do it yourself and save anywhere from $99.95 to $299.00 depending on the pool company you where using and the state you reside in. Follow the instructions below and also look at the list of tools you will need.
Tools you will need to open your swimming pool:
Large water pump or channel lock plyers, philps head and flat head screwdrivers, 1/2 socket, open end wrench, loop loc allen key,
1) Gather all the stuff you or the service professional stored in your shed or garage over the winter or off season. This will include such things as pump, filter, handrails, diving board, skimmer baskets, and so on.
2) Remove the cover from the swimming pool
3) Remove Gizzmos and plugs from the returns and skimmers
4) Hook up pump and filter, (make sure you replace all drain plugs in pump and filter)
5) Install skimmer baskets and return fittings
6) Install Ladder and diving board
7) Open skimmer, maindrain(if you have one) and return valves
8) Prime pump (add water to the pump housing)
9) Start filter, add DE if it requires
10) Shock Pool
Congratualtions you now have successfully have opened your own swimming pool! |
