Any pool whether the pool is opened or closed for the winter is a dangerous one. If you have children the best type of cover to get would be a safety cover. In getting this type of cover it would have several purposes , the first being that it wouldn’t fall in during the winter, you wouldn’t have to pump off the cover when you open it and lastly it would be harder or a child to drown if they fell onto of it.

The only drawback to these covers is that the rain water and snow from the winter will drain into the pool making the pool green. It would be recommended that you open the pool a couple of weeks earlier than you normally would so you could begin clearing it up faster.

A safety cover made most popular by the company Loop Loc, comes either in solid or mesh. They are made from bonded polyester threads for maximum strength.
Then you have anchors holding down the cover, the anchors are made from stainless steel so they are strong. You would anchor them either to your decking or right into the cement if you have that.
Other companies such as Katchakid, Cover-pools and Sav-T are also suppliers of the covers. Not only do they save a lot of work when it comes time to open but it is preventative safety for your child .
